Energy producers in the US are always looking for ways to make more money. They use every trick in the book to raise rates for profits. That is why I have a solar system, so I can produce some of my own energy and don't have to worry about higher rates.

if i'm correct, the energy you are getting isn't entirely renewable energy. you are also getting energy from other power plants. energy from all of the different types of power plants are all put together and distributed throughout the community. paying for renewable energy means that renewable energy replaces other nonrenewable energy that your community would use. so when gas and oil goes up, your all using that energy, so everyone has to pay more. i might be wrong, but i'm pretty sure thats how it works in the us

when power companies are required to buy renewables they have to pay more for them than conventional sources. They normally cost more for you to use. Therefore, your bill would be higher than others, unless they subsidize the renewables by applying the extra cost to others. I think the only people that have mislead you are the promoters of the renewable energy. You shoud address your question to them. Or the power co. could also explain it.
